In order to detect any hollow spaces present in a concrete structure (prestressed concrete structure), especially in the tendon sheaths (prestressing element sheaths), according to the method of the invention, a fluid carrier medium mixed with a radionuclide is injected from outside into the hollow space, is propagated in the hollow space and its radiation is scanned from outside with the aid of a detector, by which means localisation and spatial delimitation of the hollow space in the concrete structure or in the tendon sheaths can be achieved.
