PURPOSE:To attract a plate during passage to a roll surface by suction and prevent its vibration from occurring by forming a roll into hollowness and installing a lot of holes or slits on the roll surface. CONSTITUTION:A shaft 6 of a suction roll 1 passes through the center of end faces 4, 4 and fixed tight thereto, serving as a shaft of an axial flow vane 5. In addition, this shaft 6 is connected to a driving system via a bearing. If a metal plate 7 is being conveyed on the suction roll 1, conveying speed of this plate 7 and rotational speed of the suction roll 1 are congruous with each other and, what is more, the axial flow vanes 5, 5 at both end faces 4, 4 are rotated, and air inside the suction roll 1 is exhausted so that air is inhaled from a lot of holes 3 on a roll surface 2 and thereby the plate 7 is always pressed onto this roll surface 2 by dint of tension. Consequently, vibration in the plate 7 is thus preventable. |
