PURPOSE:To make the title equipment small in size and light in weight and to discriminate to detect cracks and flaws without displaying a scope image on a cathode-ray tube by providing a display unit displaying the transition of the peak level of an echo signal and a display unit for measured value. CONSTITUTION:A crack meter 21 is provided with a peak level detection circuit which detects the peak level from an echo reception signal, a time measuring circuit which measures a time from a transmission pulse signal to the peak of the echo reception signal and an arithmetic operation circuit which converts the measured time in the maximum peak level of an output signal into a distance. A level display meter 22 is driven according to output value from the peak level detection circuit and displays the peak level of the echo signal pertinent to each occasion according to the scanning of a probe 1 to an object to be examined. By following the peak value of the waveform of the echo reception signal corresponding to the scanning, reading a locus to the maximum peak level or the change of the locus of the peak level before and after the maximum peak level and observing the transition state with the aid of the level display meter 22, the cracks and the flaws can be discriminated. |
