To improve the properties, e.g. optical clarity, stress rupture resistance and stress cracking resistance, of thermoplastics the thermoplastic material is subjected to ultrasonic vibrations as it is cooled from a molten condition. Polyolefins, vinyl polymers, isotactic polystyrene, poly-(alkylene oxides) and poly-(ethyleneterephthalate) are examples of thermoplastics to which the invention may be applied. |
