In a central-actuation lathe with a centrally arranged headstock (2) and slide systems (4, 5) on either side of the same, the bedways and the spindles are covered by telescopic plates (6) which pass through from the one slide system (4) to the other slide system (5) in the form of a plate stack and skirt the headstock (2), in particular in a recess of the same. The telescopic plates (6) can thereby be telescoped behind the headstock (2) and do not restrict the working range of the slide systems (4, 5). As a result, the torque is introduced from a main drive (13, 13') into the headstock (2) below the bedways free of collision with the telescopic plates (6) through a recess or an aperture (11) through the machine bed (1). …<IMAGE>… |
