The invention relates to pesticidal compositions which contain 2-(3-pyridyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazoles or 5-(3-pyridyl)-1,2,4-thiadiazoles of the formula <IMAGE> (I) wherein R1 is <IMAGE> and each of R2 and R3 is hydrogen or C1-C4alkyl, to the novel compounds of the formula I themselves, to the preparation thereof, and to the use thereof in pest control.
