PURPOSE:To maintain a normal image display function without associating the degradation in the characteristics of a liquid crystal material by IR rays even if the brightness of the liquid crystal display image is increased by increasing the lamp output of a white light source by providing a ray selecting part which allows the transmission of visible light and reflects the IR light between the white light source and the liquid crystal display part. CONSTITUTION:The ray selecting part 22 is formed to a layer shape by superposing thin films of, for example, silicon oxide and titanium oxide, etc., to multiple layers and has the ray selecting characteristic to allow the transmission of the visible rays and reflects the IR light. The ray selecting part 22 is disposed between the white light source 23 and the liquid crystal display part 21. The visible rays of the rays emitted from the white light source 23 are then transmitted through the ray selecting part 22 and are supplied to the liquid crystal display part 25 but the IR rays are reflected by this ray selecting part 22 and are radiated and diffused into the apparatus. The rise of the temp. of the liquid crystal display part 25 is obviated in this way even if the lamp output is increased. The generation of a defect in the liquid crystal display function is thus obviated. |
