The invention relates to a method in a bend-adjusted roll and a bend adjusted roll that functions according to the method, which comprises a solid centre shaft 11 and a roll shell 12, which has been designed to rotate on top of the former. In the space between the centre shaft 11 and the said shell 12, slide shoe loading devices 13, 14 or corresponding hydraulic chambers or a series thereof have been arranged, by means of which the profile of the roll nip N is adjusted, which can be formed by the said bend-compensated (bc) roll 10 and a counter roll 20. The roll shell 12 is pivotally supported in proximity to both of its ends by bearings 15 on top of the said fixed shaft 11 and the fixed shaft 11 is supported outside the bearing points of the roll shell 12. At those points in the axial direction of the bc-roll 10 where a load peak or load peaks occur or may be expected to occur in the roll nip N between the bc-roll 10 and a counter roll 20, the roll shell 12 of the bc-roll is pressed outwards from the centre shaft 11 of the bc-roll essentially in a plane perpendicular to the plane of the roll nip N on both sides of the plane of the roll nip, in order to stretch the roll shell 12 in a plane perpendicular to the plane of the roll nip N and in order to reduce the load peak. <IMAGE>
