PURPOSE:To obtain high-grade image quality at the time of recording while imparting mirror surface gloss to the surface of a recording layer without lowering whiteness by containing protein in a thermal recording layer in a specific ratio with respect to a total solid and setting the temp. of a metal drum to a specific range to apply casting finish to said layer. CONSTITUTION:Protein is contained in the final coat layer of a thermal recording material in an amount of 0.5-40% by wt. of the solid of a thermal recording layer. By this method, the thermal recording material wherein release property improving effect is obtained and high gloss and high image quality are obtained continuously and stably can be prepared. At this time, when the content of protein is 0.5wt.% or less, release effect is insufficient and a continuous operable time is short and, when said content is 40wt.% or more, the recording sensitivity of the thermal recording material is markedly lowered. The drying temp. of a metal drum is desirably adjusted to a range of 30-110 deg.C in usual. When the drying temp. is 30 deg.C or less, since drying function is poor even when the thermal recording paper on a cast drum is auxiliarily dried from the rear thereof by a hot air dryer and the close adhesiveness to the metal drum is not uniformly performed, uniform mirror surface gloss is hard to obtain and, when said temp. is 110 deg.C or more, color reaction is generated from a material surface in many cases. |
