The bulk container 3 of a side-unloading wagon has a longitudinally divided floor comprising mainly two plates 7 pivoted at 8 about horizontal axes on the wagon underframe 1, the space between the plates being bridged by a narrow saddle 10 and additional plates 12 which rest on the plates 7 and are pivoted to the saddle at 13, the wagon floor in the transporting position forming a ridge-shaped saddle, as shown on the left-hand side of the Figure, whose sides are further inclined during unloading by raising the inner edges of the plates 7 and the saddle 10, as shown in the right-hand side of the Figure. The saddle 10 is fixed to and raised by the piston-rod of an hydraulic ram 15 and the movement of the piston-rod via a shaft 16 and levers 17-20 also raises the inner edges 9 of the plates 7. The side flaps 5 of the container are automatically released from the outer edges 21 of the plates 7 as these plates are tilted.</p> |
