摘要 PURPOSE:To adopt a phase difference type of automatic focusing device to a compact camera by advancing and retreating a focusing detecting element obtained by arraying plural units composed of a set of photodetectors and image-forming lenses corresponding to those photodetectors. CONSTITUTION:When the focusing detecting element 70 advances to a photographing optical path, it is arranged on the surface of a film 20, that is, in font of an expected image plane. While allowing 1st photodetector 72a receiving a luminous flux transmitting above the lens by using the diameter of the photographing lens 10 as a boundary and a 2nd photodetector 72b receiving a luminous flux transmitting below the lens form one set to correspond with respective parts of the fine image-reforming lens 71, plural sets are provided by one and one set. Normally, the focusing detecting element 70 is advancing to the photographing optical path, and when a diaphragm 16 is opened by semi-depressing a shutter button, a range is found to determine a forwarding amount of the lens. In depressing the shutter button completely, the focusing detecting element 70 retreats from the photographing optical path to the outside. As a result, a camera excellent in focusing accuracy can be accomplished without scaling it up.
