A process for the production of ceramic powders with submicron particle size and low tendency to form agglomerates, said process being distinguished by heating a slurry of metal hydroxides, metal oxides and/or mixtures thereof in a quantity of water and/or solvent, which exceeds the critical film, to a pressure and temperature that exceeds the critical point of the mixture whereafter the pressure is reduced to atmospheric pressure while the temperature is kept above the critical temperature sufficiently long to prevent condensation of the solvent in the autoclave, whereafter the powder is calcined without extensive formation of hard agglomerates at usual calcination temperatures and a ceramic powder produced according to said process. |
