MAKING OF NEGATIVE IMAGE ON POSITIVE TYPE TONABLE PHOTOSENSITIVE ELEMENT

PURPOSE: To obtain bright images by using photosetting layers with which toning is possible at a temp. of T1 to T2 , at the time of forming either negative or positive images by using photosetting elements of a positive type. CONSTITUTION: The photosensitive element with which the toning is possible at a temp. of T1 to T2 and the photosetting layer is non-tacky within this temp. range and is turned to be tacky again when heated at a temp. above T2 is used. Next, the photosetting layer is exposed to active radiations and is exposed in order to form image-like tacky adhesive areas and supplementary non-tacky image areas. At this time, the first toning material which adheres selectively to the tacky image areas at a temp. of T1 to T2 is imparted and the first toning material is removed from the non-tacky image areas. The element is thereafter heated to the temp. higher than T2 but lower than T3 to make the exposed image areas tacky again. The second contrast-like toning material is selectively applied thereto. Colorless transparent materials are used for the toning materials and are composed of dihydropyridine, bisimidazole, etc.
