PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording medium having high solubility in organic solvent, sufficient coating properties, high reflectivity, sufficient contrast and excellent retentivity by employing specific metal-containing indoaniline compound as dye. CONSTITUTION:Metal-containing indoaniline compound represented by a formula is employed as dye. In the formula, the M is metal atoms of group VIII elements, group Ib-IIIb elements, and group IVa-VIIa elements, their halogenides and oxides, which may contain substituted group of rings A-I. The R<1>-R<6> are hydrogen atom, alkyl group, aryl group, alkenyl group, cycloalkyl group which may be substituted. However, at least one of the R<1> and R<2>, R<3> and R<4>, R<5> and R<6> is alkyl group which is substituted. The Q is anionic ion (except PF6<->), the l, m, n are 0 or 1, wherein (l+m+n) are 2 or 3. |
