PURPOSE:To enhance raw preservability under hot and humid conditions by providing a recording layer comprising a coloring matter and a resin having a solubility in diacetone alcohol at 25 deg.C of at least 0.1wt.% on a substrate to produce an optical recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A coloring matter and a resin having a solubility in diacetone alcohol at 25 deg.C of at least 0.1wt.% are dissolved in an organic solvent to prepare a coating liquid. The coating liquid is applied to a substrate, and is dried to provide a recording layer, thereby obtaining an optical recording medium. Recording is conducted by irradiating the recording layer with a condensed laser beam for thermally changing the coloring matter contained in the recording layer to cause a partial change in the recording layer, and thereafter reproduction is conducted by selecting the changed parts. The resin incorporated in the recording layer may be, for example, a ketone resin, a polyamide resin or a polyvinyl butyral resin. |
