PURPOSE:To eliminate a complicated mechanism necessary for a discharge recovering operation by bringing an ink absorber into contact with the end face of a discharge port or further employing an ink discharging operation at the absorber from the port, and removing ink droplets and dusts on the end face of the port. CONSTITUTION:When the insertion of a cleaning paper cassette is confirmed, a sheet feed roller is rotated to feed a sheet feed roller PSR. When the fact the photosensors PHS completely passes the end of the paper or under a recording head IJH is confirmed, waste ink is fed from a discharge port IJO by the pressurization of a pump. When the waste ink absorbing area is discharged, the absorbed waste ink adheres to a waste sheet roller POR, but the set margin absorbs the waste ink adhering to the roller POR to clean the surface of the roller POR. When the rear end of the paper separates from the roller POR, the rotations of the rollers PSR, POR are stopped to complete the recovering operation. |
