PURPOSE:To rapidly and stably form the high contrast image of a photosensitive material by developing the photosensitive material having a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer with a developer contg. a prescribed component, in the presence of a hydrazide compd. shown by the prescribed formula. CONSTITUTION:The high contrast image is rapidly and stably formed by developing the photosensitive material contg. 3-pyrazolidone compd. and/or di or trihydroxy benzene compd. with the developer contg. the di or trihydroxybenzene compd., a sulfite and an amino compd., in the presence of at least one kind of the hydrazide compd., shown by formulas I, II and III. In formula I, R1 and R2 are each aryl group, etc., R is an org. binding group, (n) is 0-6, (m) is 0 or 1, when (n) is >=2, groups R may be the same or the different with each other. In formula II, R21 is an aliphatic group, etc., R22 is hydrogen atom, etc., P1 and P2 are each hydrogen atom, etc. In formula III, Ar is an aryl group contg. at least one of an antidispersible group or a silver halide absorption promoting group, R31 is a substd. alkyl group. |
