PURPOSE:To obtain the above suspension improved in hue, storage stability and dispersion stability and useful as the material for pressure-sensitive copying paper by dispersing a polyvalent metal salt of a salicylic acid resin in water in the presence of an anionic water-soluble polymer. CONSTITUTION:The subject aqueous suspension is prepared by dispersing a salt of a polyvalent metal (particularly preferably Zn) with a salicylic acid resin of a weight-average MW of 500-10000, preferably, 500-5000, comprising 60-95mol% structural salicylic acid units having bonding positions of 3 and 5 of formula I and 60-95mol% structural benzyl derivative units having 0-3 bonding positions in the benzene ring and having a bonding position in the alpha-carbon atom of the benzene ring of, e.g., formula II (wherein R1 and R2 are each H or a 1-4C alkyl) in water in the presence of an anionic water-soluble polymer (e.g., a saponificate of a sulfonated vinyl acetate/styrene copolymer or a polystyrenesulfonate). |
