BANDAGE FOR HURT CONTAINING ACTIVATED CHARCOAL

PURPOSE: To make bacterial toxin adsorbed in spite of the presence of excessive serum protein by using the bandage consisting of a layer of active carbon in which the specific volume of the pore volume of the active carbon is occupied by meso pores. CONSTITUTION: This active carbon-contg. bandage for wound includes the layer of the active carbon in which at least 10% of the pore volume of the active carbon is occupied by the pore volume of the meso pores. More adequately, the active carbon is in the form of a fibrous web and the fibrous active carbon may be formed of natural cellulose or regenerated cellulose. The diameter of the cellulose is generally 2 to 100μm and is more adequately 5 to 20μm. The active carbon is produced by impregnating a cellulosic fibrous material with a liquid medium contg. a phosphoric salt, an alkali metal and at least one kind of Lewis acids, then carbonizing the impregnated fibrous material by heating in an adequate atmosphere and activating the material. The produced active carbon has the high volume of the meso pores and has high physical strength.
