PURPOSE:To form the transferred image approximated to the quality of an ordinary offset printed image by transferring only the image part of a colored image onto a material to be transferred and subjecting the transferred image surface obtd. in such a manner to a surface roughening treatment. CONSTITUTION:Only the image part is transferred onto the material to be transferred from the colored image on a base formed by subjecting a colored image forming material having a colored photosensitive layer contg. a photosensitive compd. and coloring agent on a base to at least imagewise exposing and development processing and the surface of the transferred image obtd. in this way is subjected to the surface roughening treatment. The base surface is preferably subjected to a release treatment by a suitable oil-repellent material or a release layer is provided on the base in order to efficiently transfer the image onto the surface to be transferred and to facilitate the stripping of the base after the image transfer. For example, a silicone resin, fluoroplastic, etc., are usable as the oil-repellent material. The transferred image approximated to the image quality of the printed matter is obtd. in this way.
