A device for holding printed circuit boards in switching cabinets or the like, having a module housing which accommodates at least one printed circuit board and is composed of baseplates, top plates and side plates which are detachably connected to one another, in which housing the printed circuit board is accommodated longitudinally by means of guide rails which are mounted on the baseplate and the top plate, and which housing can be closed at one end by a front plate and can be detachably fastened by means of the other end to a supporting device which is intended for a plurality of housings, having a cable connection for detachable coupling of an electrical cable for the energy supply, data supply or the like, and having a plug connection for detachable coupling of a connecting cable of a further module housing. In order that a plurality of module housings can be assembled and connected to one another in a simple manner, the device is designed such that the module housing engages on the supporting device such that it can be displaced transversely, and such that the plug connection is arranged in one side plate and such that it is aligned parallel to a further plug connection on the other side plate in the transverse displacement direction, and is electrically connected in the housing interior.
