A firing system for projectiles, such as smoke candles or the like, consisting of a firing device having at least one firing cup (1-2) and projectiles (5) which can be inserted therein. A detonating circuit which is arranged in an electronics module (4) in the base part (2) of the firing cup (1) is used to produce and pass on the detonating signal. The detonating signal is transmitted without any direct electrical contact via a pot-type core transformer, one half of whose pot-type core is arranged in the projectile lower part (3), and the other half of which is arranged in the electronics module (4), in such a manner that their connecting surfaces are in each case opposite one another in the lower surface (3.7) of the projectile lower part (3) and the upper surface (4.6) of the electronics module (4) respectively. Furthermore, an identification circuit is provided, having concentric soft-iron rings which are arranged in the lower surface (3.7) of the projectile lower body (3) and are opposite identification elements which are located in the electronics module (4), on its upper surface (4.6), and are in each case constructed from a Hall probe, a permanent magnet and a soft-iron yoke, so that a magnetic circuit is closed when a section of a soft-iron ring approaches it.
