The object on which this invention is based is to use a simple straight band as a cutter for a worm-type mower. This is achieved, according to the invention, in that the worm webs possess a cylindrical supporting surface for the cutting band. If the cutter is toothed, the flank of the supporting web inclined relative to the cut terminates in the tooth bottom.
