A conveyor (10), in particular of overshot design, is to be proposed, in which it is avoided that conveyed material (38) collects in interstices (30) of a carrier belt (14) and, on reaching a drive or guide wheel (18) is crushed by the latter. As a solution it is proposed to cover the interstices (30) in the carrier belt (14) by means of a belt (22) which circulates with the carrier belt (14), the belt (22) being held between conveying elements (16) and the carrier belt (14).
