Nucleic acid fragment containing a functional nucleotide sequence contained in a 2.55 kb fragment derived from the chromosome of a B. subtilis strain or contained in a 14 kb fragment derived from the chromosome of a B. subtilis strain with a sacU?h? mutation, said sequence being characterized in that, when it is introduced into a B. subtilis or into another microorganism able to exploit for its one use the information brought to this fragment, it is able to cause in said microorganism an overproduction of proteins and to give it a Deg<h> phenotype. The invention also relates to a process for stimulating the production of a given polypeptide by an appropriate microorganism by introducing said DNA fragment into the cells of the microorganism where the genome or chromosome has been modified so that it contains a DNA sequence coding for said given polypeptide whose promoter is preceded by a target sequence.
