Commercial washing centrifuge balancing - by adding counter balance fluid in compensation chambers on periphery

The unbalance of large commercial washing centrifuges (24) is compensated by adding on the periphery of the drum (25) a counterbalancing mass. This is done by adding liq. to one or more chambers (21). The exact position of the unbalanced mass is established by determining the phase shift between the sinusoidal phase curve of the unbalanced mass and that of a mark (28) on the periphery. This is compensated by adding the appropriate amount of liq. to one or more of the chambers. ADVANTAGE - Such a centrifuge can be designed with less weight and lower cost because it requires no flexible supporting structure.
