3-(2-(4-(4-fluoro benzoyl) 1-piperidinyl) ethyl 2,4-(1H, 3H) quinazoline dione of formula (I), for use as an anti-hypertension and anti-serotonin agent, is made by (a) catalytic redn. of the quaternary pyridinium salt of formula (II), in which W is an inorganic or organic anion, with hydrogen in presence of a metal catalyst in inert solvent, opt. at elevated temp. and pressure nad opt. in presence of a base; and (b) opt. forming its acceptable salts or obtaining the free base from the salts.
