The invention relates to a housing for a bucket elevator and to the elevator provided with this housing. It is characterised in that, instead of being produced entirely from stainless steel or from painted ordinary steel, or from plastic or even from wood, among the elements constituting the elevator virtually only the following are produced from stainless steel: - the fractions of the walls carrying the mechanical components such as the tail-pulley bearings, - the mechanical parts such as the traps and, finally, - the means for linking the elements together, such as the linking plates and the profiled sections and of which certain zones produce mounting reference faces. Application to the handling-equipment industry.
