PURIFIED VASOPRESSIN V1 RECEPTOR, METHOD OF MAKING SAME, AND USE OF THE RECEPTOR IN A DIAGNOSTIC ASSAY

Utilizing a proteoliposome reconstitution system, crude liver V1 vasopressin receptor is purified to near homogeneity. The receptor is purified approximately 21,000-fold from crude liver membranes after crosslinking of K5I-vasopressin to a partially purified preparation of receptor. The receptor has a molecular weight of approximately 68,000 under reducing conditions and about 58,000 under non-reducing conditions.
