The invention relates to selective weed killers which contain antidotes, comprising as herbicidal active substance chloroacetanilide derivatives of the general formula I in which R1 and R2 are each a hydrogen atom or C1-4-alkyl group, R3 is an n-propyl, isopropyl, methoxymethyl, methoxyethyl or 2-methoxy-1 methylethyl group, as antidote, dichloroacetamide derivatives of the general formula II in which R4 and R5 independently of one another are a C2-4-alkenyl group, a (C1-4-alkoxy)-(C1-4-alkoxy)-(C1-4-alkyl) group or a (C2-4-alkenylaminocarbonyl-(C1-4-alkyl) group, or R4 and R5 together may optionally form a 4-7-membered saturated ring which is interrupted by an oxygen atom and which may optionally be substituted by not more than three methyl groups, or 2-methyl-2-(dichloromethyl)dioxolane, 2-methyl-2-(dichloromethyl)-4-ethyldioxolane or 1,8-naphthoic anhydride, and as protective agent thiocarbamate derivatives of the general formula III in which R6, R7 and R8 independently of one another are a C1-4-alkyl group or R6 and R7 alternatively may be a C4-6-cycloalkyl group or may form a 5-7-membered saturated ring.
