A heat treatment device for the disinfection, sterilisation or treatment of articles by heat comprises a container (10) defining a void for receiving an article (24) to be heat treated, an electrical resistance heating element (19, 29, 30) arranged in the void, the heating element (19, 29, 30) being flexibly deformable and being adapted for close contact with the article to be heat treated, tensioning means (20, 33, 34, 37, 38, 39) for stretching or maintaining the heating element in a dimensionally stable initial condition, and a resiliently deformable pad (17, 25, 27) in the void by which the article (24) to be heat treated and the heating element are pressed into contact. |
