A device for inserting curtain hanging elements into a curtain running rail is described. The device comprises an auxiliary rail which has a delivery section provided at the upper end of the auxiliary rail, adjoining this a receiving section for the hanging elements, to be lined up one behind the other therein, of the curtain to be hung, a conveying element movable along the auxiliary rail and intended for the hanging elements, and an actuating device for the conveying element. The delivery section of the auxiliary rail is of rectilinear construction. The conveying element is movable exclusively along the delivery section and pivotable between a first position, in which it is situated in engagement with the respectively uppermost curtain hanging element, and a second position, in which it is freely movable in the delivery section relative to the hanging elements. <IMAGE>
