A device for the continuous production of container bodies from a weldable packaging material web has two reciprocating advance devices (36, 37) acting alternately. To provide the container bodies with a shape consisting of four flat walls and four curved edge walls connecting said walls, the advance devices are designed as moulding devices. The first advance device (36) in the travel direction has a moulding mandrel (50) with convex edges and concave sides, against which jaws (53) with complementary convex sides can be pressed so that the packaging material is at first overstretched. Then, on the second advance device (37), the tube (27) thus preformed is formed back on a mandrel (55) having a cross-section corresponding to the desired cross-section of the container bodies. On the mandrel of the second moulding device, the container bodies are severed from the tube by means of a blunt cut produced by circulating cutting discs. <IMAGE> |
