The invention relates to a warning indicator for lining wear on brake shoes, especially those of disc brakes, having an electric conductor and a plug which has a mechanical means for locking the plug in the brake shoe and a shank with a longitudinal groove which accommodates the conductor and through which the conductor is passed. According to the invention, the mechanical means (16, 31, 48, 49) is resiliently flexible and can be snapped in and the plug can be inserted axially (8, 30, 41) into the brake shoe. <IMAGE>
