<p>In machining processes, for example deep grinding, nozzles of rectangular cross-section are traditionally used for delivering coolant and/or lubricant. These nozzles only comply to a limited extent with the requirements for jet performance and quality and are unsuitable, for example, for use in deep grinding of turbine blades. The proposed arrangement (6) comprises a plurality of individual conical nozzles (1) and is superior to known arrangements as regards maintenance of the quality of the jet over sufficient distance and as regards the requirements for operating pressure. The diameter of the inlet orifice (2) of an individual nozzle (1) is at least equal to, but not more than 3 times greater than that of the outlet orifice (3). The ratio of the length of the nozzle (1) to the diameter of the outlet orifice (3) is at least equal to 4. The nozzle (1) has a sharp, burr-free outlet edge (4). The outlet orifice (3) of the nozzle (1) lies approximately in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the cone. The arrangement can be used to deliver coolant and/or lubricant fluid to workpieces and/or tools in machining processes, particularly in deep grinding.</p> |
