A velocipede of the type including a frame (10); a seat (12) mounted on an upper portion of the frame; a drive wheel (14) mounted in a rear fork bracket portion (22) of the frame (10); a sprocket (46) and chain drive system (50) for the drive wheel (14); and a steering gear assembly (18) of the skateboard type mounted on the forward lower end of the frame. The steering gear assembly includes a mounting plate (60) having a generally rectangular configuration corresponding to the rectangular configuration of a flange plate (24) secured to the lower forward end of the frame and includes a socket portion (60j) opening in the upper face of the mounting plate. |
