The random selection apparatus comprises a container (2) defining a chamber (8) having a narrow mouth (6). The container extends below an opening in a sheet of magnetisable material (12) and contains imprisoned therein a disc magnet (14) bearing different legends on opposite axial faces thereof. A rod (16) is provided with opposite magnetic poles (18 and 20) at opposite ends. By inserting a randomly selected end of the rod into the mouth (6), the pole at that end will attract the disc magnet (14) to it. When the rod is then withdrawn, the disc magnet (14) will be held back by the mouth (6) and magnetically couple itself to the sheet (12). The legend on the exposed face of the disc magnet (14) can then be read. The random selection apparatus can be used to form pockets in magnetic snooker game. |
