Method of adhesion for solid wood, wood-based materials and similar materials

To achieve short pressing times, methods of adhesion with reactivatable adhesives are used. The adhesive is applied to both adherent surfaces, surface-dried and reactivated by heat immediately before joining the parts together. In order that this method can also be used for heavy-duty bonds with great material cross-sections, a method of reactivation is necessary in which only the minimum necessary amount of heat can be supplied in as short a time as possible. The optimum supply of heat can take place by means of contact heat directly into the glued adherent surfaces. For this purpose, use is made of a heating element which is suitably coated for the avoidance of adhering deposits. The good heat transfer by contact heat has the consequence of a pronounced temperature gradient in the region of the joint. The reactivation heat can therefore by dissipated again very quickly. On account of the strengths which can be achieved, the method is suitable for very short pressing times, in particular for gluing the joints of solid wood.
