The support element of a collector shoe for a collector with a carbon brush and a support element for supporting the latter consists, at least in the cross-section area contiguous to the coal brush, of a synthetic material, in particular a fibre-reinforced and/or foamed synthetic material. Said support element can be linked with the carbon brush, as usual, through gluing, or, preferably, by directly moulding the synthetic material onto the carbon brush.
