A buffered optical fibre of high tensile strength is described, which can be stripped in a particularly easy manner. It has two strip-shaped strain relief elements (3) which surround the core almost completely. On top of this, there is a plastic sheath (4) which has notches on the outside at those points under which no strain relief element is located. By cutting into the plastic sheath (4) along the notches (6), said plastic sheath can be easily removed together with the strain relief elements (3). <IMAGE>
