Bearing for the camshaft of a fuel injection pump

In addition to roller bearings (6) with cylindrical rolling elements (7) merely absorbing radial forces at one point of the camshaft (1), a bearing for the camshaft (1) of a fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines comprises a plain thrust bearing (9) for the camshaft (1) between two adjacent cams (2), preferably approximately central in the housing (3), thereby defining the axial alignment of the camshaft (1) in the housing (3). According to a preferred embodiment the plain thrust bearing (9) is of semicircular shape and designed as radial steady bearing for supporting the radial roller bearing (6) (Fig. 1).
