Stator for electric motors

A stator for an electric motor has an annular core which has at least one pair of mutually opposite field poles which project from the insides of the annular core, as well as field windings which are in each case wound in pairs around the field poles. Each of the field poles has a pair of tongue projections which determine the boundary of an air gap between the field poles and the rotor of the electric motor. Winding intermediate spaces which are opposite one another in pairs in the stator are formed between two field windings in each case, in which intermediate spaces electrical supply wires are connected to the field windings. The stator furthermore has two protection plates, each of which extends in the form of an arc between two adjacent tongue projections, in order to close the corresponding winding intermediate space. Each of the protection plates has at least one opening in order to allow the flow of cooling air from the winding intermediate space, through the opening, to the rotor.
