In evaluating the digitally encoded traffic information received in a data telegram, the latter is continuously decoded and the traffic information is stored after decoding and evaluation. On the receiver side, a computer must continuously evaluate the incoming data flow. As evaluation is difficult, especially in poor transmission conditions in which errors must be corrected, the computer would require a very complex program structure and configuration. To attain a simpler computer configuration and program structure, a complete traffic information cycle is first decoded and then stored after the correction of any errors. Thereafter an updating bit in the data telegram, which may change as the traffic information alters, is identified and evaluated. Depending on this evaluation, a further complete cycle of traffic information is decoded and stored only if the updating bit changes.
|
