A holder for hygiene paper rolls (1) of large diameter consists of a rear wall (4) with integrated pin (5) for roller reception and of a covering hood (6) articulatedly connected to the rear wall (4). The end face (2, 3) of the paper roll is turned towards the rear wall (4) and the covering hood (6), respectively. Rear wall (4) or covering hood (6) have shaft stubs (9) which engage in bearing holes (10) in the covering hood (6) and the rear wall (4), respectively. There is also provision for a stop pin (11) which is guided in a guiding groove (12), the guiding groove (12) having the form of an arc of a circle enclosing an angle ( alpha ) of approx. 90 degrees. Between the parallels to the base (13) of the rear wall (4) and a radial (S2) bounding the guiding groove (12) there is an angle (ss) whose size amounts to 3 to 12 degrees. A lock (7), arranged opposite the joints of the covering hood (6), consists of a tongue (16) and a catch (17) assigned to it. The lock maintains the covering hood (6) in the closed position on the rear wall (4). <IMAGE>
