<p>PURPOSE:To enable efficient measurement of a styrene content by determining absorbance of styrene from an amount of incoming infrared rays incident at one tilt end face of a prism put tight on the surface of a resin material sheet and an amount of outgoing infrared rays emitted at the other end face of the prism. CONSTITUTION:A lower end face 21d of a prism 21 is put tight on the surface of a synthetic resin material sheet 1 in transit while infrared rays with a wavelength of 14.3mum are radiated from an infrared rays generator 17. The, outgoing infrared rays emitted at a tilt end face 21b of the prism 21 being totally reflected within the prism 21 several times after being incident at a tilt end face 21a thereof are detected with a detector 16. In parallel with this, an amount I0 of incoming infrared rays is determined from current of a generator 17 and an amount I of outgoing infrared rays from a detection current of the detector 16 to obtain an absorbance by an expression of absorbance=log.I0/I. Then, based on the absorbance thus obtained, a content of styrene contained in the sheet 1 is determined from a characteristic of the styrene content previously determined.</p> |
