PURPOSE:To obtain a nucleoside in high efficiency by base interchange reaction, in an aqueous solution in the presence of e.g. phosphoric acid, between thymine and ribonucleoside or deoxyribonucleoside using thermophile classified as bacillus. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution containing (1) a ribonucleoside selected from inosine, adenosine, guanosine and uridine or a deoxyribonucleoside selected from 2'-deoxyinosine, 2'-deoxyadenosine, 2'-deoxyguanosine and 2'-deoxyuridine, (2) thymine and (3) phosphoric acid or phosphate, is put to base interchange reaction in the presence of Bacillus thermophile or treated product therefrom, thus obtaining the objective nucleoside compound as 5-methyl uridine or thymidine. The base interchange reaction temperature is pref. 40-70 deg.C. |
