PURPOSE: To generate desired small chips by changing feed speed, or at least its scalar value, of a tool edge for a time interval which is short relative to the time required for one full revolution of a work. CONSTITUTION: A cylindrical work of a length L and a circumferential length U is rotated around a rotation axial line 8, it is intermittently moved in a direction of an arrow 9 while a tool edge is applied to its circumferential surface, and feed lines 3, 4... are generated for one revolution of the work to generate a work contour 2. The feed lines 3, 4... have a part 10 where feed motion is not performed, and a part 11 where quick advance motion is performed is shortly continued from it. In this case, for cutting chips, change of cross sectional surfaces becomes larger and more secure as the advance motion of the tool edge 1 in the direction of the arrow 9 is more quick in a range 11. The chips can thus be cut in desired small pieces while obtaining a specified surface cutting mark. |
