PURPOSE:To attain the display of characters with high definition even with a display device of the low image resolution by storing the character pictures of variable density at a part of a picture memory and mixing these character pictures with a color background picture via a look-up table memory. CONSTITUTION:The color background picture information or this information and the multi-level character picture information are stored in a shared memory area of a picture memory 11. At the same time, the memory 11 stores a background decision flag to discriminate the characters from the background. The output showing the contents of the shared memory area of the memory 11 and the output of said decision flag are inputted to the input of a look-up table memory 12. The color background picture information is outputted as it is at the background part via a conversion table of the memory 12. While the color background picture information is mixed with the character color and outputted at the part except the background part. Thus it is possible to display characters with high definition even with a display device of the low image resolution. |
