PURPOSE:To obtain the subject prepreg free from generation of void in molding and lowering of physical properties at high temperature and having excellent shape-retainability by impregnating reinforcing fibers with a dispersion of powdery thermoplastic polyamide imide resin dispersed in a poor solvent. CONSTITUTION:The objective prepreg can be produced by dispersing a powdery thermoplastic polyamide imide resin (preferably having particle size of 60-200 mesh) preferably composed of 50-100mol% of the recurring unit of formula I (Ar1 is group of formula II, etc.; Ar2 is group of formula III, etc.) and 0-50mol% of the recurring unit of formula IV (Ar3 is group of formula V, etc.) in a poor solvent (preferably trichloroethylene, etc.) (preferably 10-20wt.% of the resin is dispersed in 80-90wt.% of the solvent) to effect the dissolution of the low-molecular weight component in the resin into the solvent, impregnating the obtained dispersion in reinforcing fibers (e.g., glass fiber) and decreasing the residual amount of the poor solvent to <1wt.% by heating, etc. |
