In order to control the internal lighting of a refrigerator, a tongue contact (14) is subjected to magnetic influence by a permanent magnet (2) installed on the cheek (side piece) (10) of the door (1). The magnetic flux is transmitted between the permanent magnet (2) and the tongue contact (14), which is located at a distance therefrom, by means of two magnetic flux baffles (5, 6) which are embedded in the housing wall (9). An amplifier circuit (4) is connected to the tongue contact (14). As a result, the depository containers (8) contained in the door - which normally switch the lighting on and off via feelers - can be used in an arrangement which can be replaced and adjusted for height. <IMAGE>
